Utility Rates and Fees
The City of Lenoir provides water and sewer service. A new or existing utility service can be obtained by filling out the application for service. If the property is being rented, the form must be delivered along with the $65.00 deposit to the City of Lenoir utility department located on the first floor of Lenoir City Hall. A homeowner may FAX the completed form to the Utility department at 828-757-5712.
A $65.00 deposit is required on all rental property; homeowners are not required to make a deposit. The deposit is held until the renter moves out of the residence and requests that the service is disconnected and removed from the renter's name. The deposit will be applied toward settlement of the account with any balance refunded to the customer. If the deposit is not sufficient to cover the bill, the City will proceed to collect the balance in the usual way provided by law for the collection of debts.
The City is divided into four cycles and bills each account once a month. An account remaining unpaid 25 days after the bill date is subject to a $10.00 late fee. An unpaid account of 45 days is subject to disconnection of service with a $25.00 reconnect fee assessed. All outstanding amounts must be paid in full before reconnection.
