The City of Lenoir is committed to financial transparency. City staff and council believe the Lenoir taxpayers have the right to know and understand how tax dollars are spent in Lenoir. To that end, the City posts the annual Budget Ordinance and Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports Online for residents to review.
The annual budget ordinance is the official document adopted by City Council to levy taxes and appropriate revenues for the fiscal year. The fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. The budget ordinance is the legal basis of the budgetary accounting system, the standard by which proposed expenditures are measured. Because of that, generally all moneys received and expended by a local government or public authority must be included in the budget ordinance. View Budget Ordinances.
Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)
A Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is a set of U.S. government financial statements comprising the financial report of a state, municipal or other governmental entity that complies with the accounting requirements promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). GASB provides standards for the content of a CAFR in its annually updated publication Codification of Governmental Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards.
