National Public Safety Telecommunications Week

Sunday, April 11, 2021

The City of Lenoir City Council proclaimed April 11 - 17, 2021, to be National Public Safety Telecommunications Week in the City of Lenoir.

National Public Safety Telecommunications Week Proclamation

April 11 – 17, 2021

Whereas, emergencies can occur at anytime that require police, fire or emergency medical
services;

Whereas, when an emergency occurs, the prompt response of police officers, firefighters and
paramedics is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property;

Whereas, the safety of our first responders is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of
information obtained from citizens who telephone the Lenoir Communications Center;

Whereas, Professional Telecommunicators are not as visible as the men and women who arrive at the scene of emergencies, but they are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services;

Whereas, Professional Telecommunicators are the single vital link for our first responders by
monitoring their activities by radio and mobile, providing accurate up-to-date information and
ensuring their safety;

Whereas, each Telecommunicator has exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during the performance of their job in the past year;

Therefore Be It Resolved, that I, Joseph L. Gibbons, Mayor of the City of Lenoir, and on behalf of the Lenoir City Council, do hereby proclaim and declare the week of April 11th through 17th, 2021 to be National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in Lenoir, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our city and citizens safe.

Joseph L. Gibbons, Mayor
