The City of Lenoir has started a new podcast to inform residents about news, events, and services. The first episode is available today.
The podcast is called Lenoir Local. Shows will cover a variety of topics including events, things to do, City services, community interest topics and more. Communication and Public Information Director Joshua Harris plans to release a new episode every other week to start.
"I'm always looking for ways to reach the public and keep people informed," Harris said. "I like podcasts, and I'm always listening to them in my car, so I figured, 'Why not a podcast about what's happening in Lenoir?"
Episode one is a conversation with Main Street Community Engagement Coordinator Matthew Anthony about upcoming events. Harris and Anthony talk about July 4th fireworks, summer concerts, baseball games, cruise-ins and more. Harris already has other topics in mind including interviews with City Council, how we get City water from Lake Rhodhiss to Lenoir, succeeding as a small business owner, and he’s open to ideas.
"My goal is to have casual conversations about things that are interesting," Harris said.
Harris plans to keep the episodes at around 30 minutes. The shows will be posted on the City website at www.cityoflenoir.com/lenoirlocal and on Podbean at https://cityoflenoir.podbean.com/.
