Weekend events in Lenoir

A free movie night, a fun run, fireworks, and more! Check out the events happening this weekend in Lenoir.

Movie Night in Downtown

Come watch Sing 2 at the Downtown Lenoir stage tonight, Friday, July 1, 2022. Sing 2 is the second movie that is part of this year’s Summer Music Madness Series. The movie starts at 9:00 pm. Bring a comfy chair and grab something to eat or drink at one of our downtown restaurants.

Firecracker 5K, 10K, & Fun Run

The City of Lenoir's annual Firecracker Race is Saturday, July 2. There's a 1 Mile Fun Run, a 5K, and a 10K race. The Firecracker Race is the second of three annual footraces sponsored by the Parks & Recreation Department. The race is held right before the Fourth of July. Register today at the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center, or register tomorrow at the race.

Free Fishing Day

Free Fishing Day always falls on July 4 from 12 am to 11:59 pm. On Free Fishing Day, residents and out-of-state visitors can fish in North Carolina without having to purchase a license; however, all other fishing regulations apply, such as length and daily possession limits, as well as bait and tackle restrictions. Free Fishing Day was authorized by the N.C. General Assembly in 1994 and is sponsored by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission.

Swimming at the Lenoir Aquatic and Fitness Center

The outdoor pool at the Lenoir Aquatic & Fitness Center will be open Monday, July 4, from 1:30 to 5:30 pm for recreational swimming. Due to lifeguard staffing issues, the slides will not be open. The indoor amenities at LAFC will be closed.

July 4th Fireworks Show

The City of Lenoir Fireworks show will be at 9:30 pm Monday night, July 4, 2022, at the Lenoir Optimist Park across from Mulberry Recreation Center.

The Optimist Park will be closed all day Monday, July 4, while the fireworks show is being set up. Mulberry Street in front of Mulberry Recreation Center will be closed around 4:00 pm Monday.

Waterlife Church's July 4th Celebration will be from 4:30 to 10:00 pm Monday. The event usually includes food trucks, bounce houses, games, and more. The church is located beside the recreation center in the old mall.

The map above shows Lenoir Optimist Park, Mulberry Street, Mulberry Recreation Center, Waterlife Church, and the parking lots in the old mall. The fireworks will be launched from Lenoir Optimist Park. Optimist Park will be closed all day Monday to set up the show. Mulberry Street will be closed around 4:00 pm Monday.
