Due to the inclement weather forecast for tomorrow evening brought about by Hurricane Ian, the North Carolina Brass Band has elected not to travel to Lenoir for its scheduled concert.
Several band members are from Georgia and South Carolina as well as coastal areas in North Carolina, and the approaching hurricane/tropical storm is of great concern to the band members.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, declared a State of Emergency due to the threat of Hurricane Ian.
"In advance of Hurricane Ian’s remnants moving through the state, Governor Roy Cooper declared a State of Emergency today to activate the state’s emergency operations plan, waive transportation rules to help the transport of fuel and critical supplies, help first responders and the agriculture industry and protect consumers from price gouging," according to a press release from Governor Cooper.

City staff hope to reschedule the concert for a future date. Stay tuned for updates.
The Lenoir High School reunion events will go on as scheduled Friday and Saturday.
