A section of Main Street and Ashe Avenue in Downtown Lenoir have been closed in preparation for an event tomorrow. More streets in downtown will close starting around 5:00 pm today, Friday, April 28, 2023.
Event staff are setting up for the 2023 NC Gravity Games, which will be tomorrow, Saturday, April 29. Main Street is already closed from Ashe Avenue to West Avenue in Downtown Lenoir. Ashe Avenue is closed from Church Street to Ridge Street.
Starting at 5:00 pm today, event staff will close West Avenue from Church Street to Mulberry Street. Another section of Main Street will be closed from West Avenue to Harper Avenue. Detour signs will be posted around downtown.
People travelling north/south through Downtown Lenoir can detour via College Avenue, Willow Street, and Scruggs Street. Drivers heading east to west can detour via Norwood Street, College Avenue, Willow Street, and West Avenue. Harper Avenue will be open for through traffic.
All streets should reopen by tomorrow evening.
The 10th Annual North Carolina Gravity Games is tomorrow, Saturday, April 29, in Downtown Lenoir. There will be gravity-powered racing, STEM activities, free games, and more! The event is sponsored by Google, Appalachian State University, the University of North Carolina via the NC Science Festival, the City of Lenoir, and Downtown Lenoir.
