Smoking In The Foothills starts tomorrow in Downtown Lenoir

Come to Downtown Lenoir tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 18, to kick off the Smoking In The Foothills BBQ Competition & Festival!

The Smokey Barrel Beer & Beverage Garden opens at 5:00 p.m., and Andrew Massey & the Midnight Americans will start off the night's music on the Downtown Stage at 5:30 p.m. The People’s Choice Chicken Wings Competition starts at 6:00 p.m., so show up with an appetite and try out several different styles of wings from local and professional cook teams. 

In addition to great food and live music, the Smoking In The Foothills BBQ Competition & Festival offers an incredible line-up of vendors and activities including a wood crafters' and artisan showcase featuring glass blowing and blacksmithing demonstrations; the Playful Piglet Kids Zone with bounce houses, games, and prizes; the Burnin' Rubber Poker Run; and an ACA Regulation Cornhole Tournament.

The National Reserve will wrap up Friday night with some classic American rock n' roll.

On Saturday, The Harris Brothers, The Bryan Anderson Project, Chad Triplett & Two Lane Blacktop, and Jim Quick & Coastline will play live music all day. The People’s Choice Pork Competition starts at 11:30 a.m., and the Foot in the Door Scavenger Hunt will give visitors more chances to win prizes .

While patrons are perusing the vendors and enjoying barbecue, cook teams from across the region will compete in a professional BBQ Competition for $20,000 in prize money. The competition is a North Carolina State Championship Event and a sanctioned Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) Competition. Teams compete in four categories - Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork and Beef Brisket.

So come to Downtown Lenoir tomorrow and Saturday and enjoy a festival about wood, fire, and smoke.
