The Parks & Recreation Department is hosting several events at the MLK Jr. Center to celebrate Black History Month.

Women of Gospel Concert

February 2, 2020, 3:00 PM @ Martin Luther King Jr. Center

Black History Month starts with the the Women of Gospel Concert featuring Ms. Faith Dula-Banner from Lenoir, Miss Tonie Carlton from Lenoir, Miss Kyesha Horton from Wilkesboro, and ETERNITY from Morganton.

Movie Night - "Harriet"

February 8, 2020, 4:00 PM @ Martin Luther King Jr. Center

Black History Month continues with a free showing of "Harriet" at the MLK Jr. Center. Light Refreshments will be served. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent.

Blood Drive

February 11, 2020, 2:00 PM - 6:30 PM @ Martin Luther King Jr. Center

Come to the MLK Jr. Center and donate blood to the American Red Cross. Chick-fil-A is providing refreshments for those who give.

Local students will compete in the annual Black History Month Quiz Bowl at the MLK Jr. Center.

The Parks & Recreation Department wraps up Black History Month with a free concert featuring the Perkins Brothers from Lenoir and Rosa Russ from Raleigh.
